Choices by Shawn provides a complete gluten free menu for patrons who have celiac disease and lesser gluten sensitivities or for those who are simply interested in pursuing a gluten free diet.  First-time customers are frequently delightfully surprised when they discover that they can enjoy a cheeseburger, a bruschetta appetizer, or a pasta dish just like other folks.

For some, it is the first meal that they have had in a restaurant for years. 

Celiac disease is an inherited, auto-immune disease in which the lining of the small intestine is damaged from eating gluten and other proteins found in wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats. 

People with celiac disease can experience gastric complaints after eating minute amounts of gluten.  To ensure the safety of its celiac customers, Choices by Shawn provides a separate kitchen for its gluten free menu.  This eliminates the possibility of cross contamination during the preparation process.  All gluten free items are served on specially marked dishes to help the servers maintain proper separation between the kitchen and the dining table.  Additionally, the server staff is trained to inquire if a customer ordering gluten free has celiac.  By asking this question, the server is prompted to be extra cautious in their actions and to alert the kitchen staff to their need to exercise care, as well.

Choices serves both multi-grain and white gluten-free bread that is baked on the premises.  Choices also bakes a variety of gluten-free cookies and gluten free muffins.  If you are interested in a gluten free dessert you can enjoy a slice of carrot cake or our special chocolate fudge cake.

Besides its gluten-free menu, Choices by Shawn offers items that are dairy free.  Costumers with other food sensitivities are encouraged to call ahead and Choices will work with them to design a tasty meal that accommodates their particular dietary needs.
